Hive Lens: You Made It Click. Here Are Your Winners.

Just a month or so ago we opened Cubee's one of the most exciting photo competition. The idea was simple. Print a design from the Hive Catalog, photograph it, and let the community vote for their favorites.

I didn't really know what to expect. It was our first go at anything like this.

Then the entries started coming in, and they kept coming. ~80 photos. Around 40 of you. Over 800 votes from more than 400 people. For a first run, that's a turnout I did not see coming.

I kept opening the gallery just to look every time; what a creativity you all have. Bedroom shots, Kitchen table setups, professional studio lit pictures, and well, one participant even submitted a photo of their failed print. LOL.

It was all a blast to see.

A Word on the Designers

Seeing your photos made me fall for the catalog all over again. Thank you to every designer whose work turned up in an entry. You gave us something worth photographing.

Hive Lens Winners

We took a few extra days to go back through the votes and double-check the standings before locking them in. Here's where it all landed.

A Note for the Next One

There were a few entries this time that gave their vote counts a little "boost" using throwaway e-mails, spam e-mail IDs, duplicate votings and some malpractices as well. We noticed it this time and cleared up the mess as well. And for this round, we're letting it pass-by, because it didn't change the results as much. There was no harm-done here.

But, it just left a small dent in the whole spirit of the Hive community. We're all here to cherish the joys of 3D printing, help each other succeed and stand up in the crowded market of 3D prints.

All these community challenges work because people show up and play it straight. But when a few votes get paddes, it quietly takes something away from everyone who has earned their points the fair way.

Going forward we'll be a lot stricter about it. Please don't be the reason we have to tighten the rules for everybody.
