Hive Halloween Competition: scary prints, spooky prizes

Hive's Halloween Competition is open!!! Print a Halloween design from the Hive catalog, take a photo of it, and upload it. The votes decide the rest, and the five entries with the most points win.

Submissions opened on September 25 and close on November 6. So you've got about a month. Plenty of time to print, and just enough time to stop putting it off.

You don't need a fancy camera or an elaborate setup, just a Halloween print from the Hive catalog and your phone is enough.

What You Can Win

Coral Vase 1
Coral Vase 1, the second place prize

Five winners.

1st place: a lifetime HiveCommunity plan, worth $239 when we launched this competition. The full community catalog with commercial rights, and no renewal ever again.

2nd place: the commercial licence to Coral Vase 1 from our 3D Vault, worth $200. Only six of these licences will ever exist, and yours comes royalty-free.

3rd to 5th place: five KishMake projects each. KishMake turns a text prompt or an image into a printable 3D model, so that's five new designs of your own to keep and sell.

Don't sleep on second place, by the way. A design that only six shops in the world can sell is a nice thing to have in your listings.

Already on a plan? The lifetime prize stacks on top of it. If you're on HivePlus or Hive community monthly, you get the Lifetime HiveCommunity plan on top.

Not Sure What to Print?

There are more than 110 designs tagged Halloween & Fall in the catalog right now with new designs coming every week. Only a few of them actually have the word "Halloween" in the name. So if you just search "halloween", you'll miss most of them. Open the catalog and use the Halloween & Fall filter in left column instead.

Here are a few I think would photograph really well. All of them are open to every Hive member.

Things that glow

Lamps are a bit of a cheat code for Halloween photos. Switch the room lights off, put an LED tea light inside, and the print does most of the work for you.

Graveyard LED Shadow Lamp

Graveyard LED Shadow Lamp by In-House. A waving skeleton, a tombstone and a little fence. Drop a tea light in the base and the whole scene gets thrown onto the wall behind it.

Haunted House Lamp

Haunted House Lamp by Bearded Printer. A haunted house with lit-up windows. It takes a light puck, and multicolor is optional.

Ghost Trio Tea Light

Ghost Trio Tea Light by Enso. Three ghosts that sit over LED tea lights, so their faces glow from the inside.

Pumpkins, obviously

Blowing Pumpkins

Blowing Pumpkins by Creaserra. Light, vase-like pieces you shape into pumpkins with a plastic-blowing trick inspired by glass blowing. Three sizes and three stems to mix.

Jack's Contemplation

Small, weird and fun

Trash Slime Monster Clicker by Click Bait. A slime monster popping out of a trash can, and it clicks when you press it.

Voodoo Doll

Halloween Dragon Egg

Halloween Dragon Egg by Remb Studios. A twist-lock egg box covered in little pumpkins. There's a Frankenstein, a wizard and a fall version too.

Or carve your own

HALLOW, the pumpkin carving studio in Hive Tools

You don't have to stick to the catalog. Anything you design in Hive Tools and print counts too. The newest studio in there is HALLOW, a pumpkin carving tool.

Pick a pumpkin, carve a face from the stencil library or type a name into it, set the height, and download the print kit. Anyone can play with it for free, and Hive members can download what they make.

About the Photo

Let's get this out of the way: you don't need a setup. No lights, no backdrop, no editing. If you printed a Halloween design and took a photo of it on your desk, that's a valid entry and we'd love to see it. This isn't a pro photography contest. It's a fun one.

Hive Lens proved that. Entries came in from bedrooms, kitchen tables and proper studio setups, and one member entered a photo of a failed print. Here are a few, just to show the range.

A pendant lamp glowing in a dark room

If you do feel like playing with it, Halloween is the one time of year where a dark, moody photo actually makes sense. Turn the main lights off and let a tea light, some fairy lights or a window at dusk do the work.

Throw in a couple of real mini pumpkins or some dry leaves if you have them. And if you want a setup that costs next to nothing, Dennis walked us through his black paper and window light method in this session recap.

But honestly, a quick phone shot is enough.

How the Votes Are Counted

Voting runs from November 7 to 15. Anyone can vote, but the votes don't all count the same.

Hive members: every vote from an active Hive member counts as 5 points.

Everyone else: every public vote counts as 1 point.

So yes, share your entry link with friends and followers. It helps. But the community is where the real weight is. If two entries end up tied on points, the one submitted first ranks higher.

The Rules

  1. Active Hive members only. Your subscription needs to stay active until the competition ends.

  2. Up to 3 photos per member. Each one is submitted separately, with its design details.

  3. Halloween designs from the Hive catalog or Hive Tools only. Other designs or generic prints won't qualify.

  4. Real photos you took yourself. If a photo looks AI-generated, the team may reach out and ask for the original shot of your print before approving your entry.

  5. Most points wins. Prizes go out within a week of the results.

  6. Cubee can use your photos. By submitting, you're giving us permission to use them for promotion and marketing.

  7. The lifetime plan stacks. It's added on top of your current plan, as explained in the prizes section above.

Key Dates

Submissions open: September 25, 2026

Submissions close: November 6, 2026

Voting: November 7 to 15, 2026

Winners announced: November 16, 2026

Every entry gets a quick check from the team before it shows up in the gallery. That usually takes a few hours.

When we ran Hive Lens in the summer, over 400 of you cast more than 800 votes. I'd love to see this one beat that. Print something spooky, snap it, and get your entry in before November 6!! Happy Halloween printing! 🎃
