Find the visuals that win

Test, Don’t Guess

A/B testing reveals what actually drives clicks. Testing thumbnails helps you learn what your audience responds to best.

Learn

Your thumbnail is the first impression buyers get of your product. Even small differences like a brighter background, a hand in the photo, or a tighter crop, can dramatically change click-through rates. A/B testing allows you to compare different thumbnail versions under the same conditions to see which actually performs better. Disclaimer

Practice

You’ll set up a simple A/B test on your best-performing listing.

  1. Choose your highest-traffic listing.

  2. Duplicate it twice, giving you 3 versions total.

  3. Change only the thumbnail in each version (keep all other details the same).

  4. Run Etsy Ads on all versions with the same daily budget.

  5. Let them run for at least 7 days without changes.

  6. Compare CTR (click-through rate) and ROAS (return on ad spend) to identify the winner.

Finish this Challenge

You’re ready to progress when you’ve tested 3 thumbnails for one product under equal budgets and identified a winner with clear CTR and ROAS data.

If you are not sure about the test results or too few clicks were generated, you may consider to continue the text for a bit longer before you continue to the next step.
